8 SCHOOLS SA20 STARS EARN NATIONAL SELECTION AT KHAYA MAJOLA WEEK
Schools SA20 players feature prominently among the two national teams selected at the conclusion of the annual Khaya Majola Week for provincial teams on Friday, 20 December.
There are four each in the SA Schools and SA Colts teams selected at the end of four days’ of action in Cape Town, which saw hosts Western Province emerge as winners.
Of the quartet in the SA Schools team; two come from St David’s Marist Inanda (who will play in Phase 2 as Central Gauteng Lions runners-up), namely Jason Rowles and Armaan Manack who open the batting for St David’s – Rowles also bowls handy off-spin.
Joining them in the SA Schools team are Grey College opener Christian Kind (who will also be in action during Schools SA20 Phase 2 as Grey finished as runners-up in Free State) and Enathi Kitshini who played for Thembalethu Hub during Phase 1 in South Western Districts.
Meanwhile, the SA Colts team (who will take on the SA Schools team at Newlands on Saturday, 21 December 2024) includes two Cape locals, Bishops opener Adnaan Lagadien (who helped them to the runners-up spot in Western Province) and Rondebosch Boys’ opening bowler Timothy Short, as well as Pearson High School’s star allrounder Cayden Wilson and Dayalan Boyce, who played for Westville Boys’ during Phase 1 in KwaZulu-Natal Coastal but turned out for the CSA Invitational XI during Khaya Majola Week.
What makes the selection of the eight players above most impressive is that they all have another year of schoolboy cricket to play (as Schools SA20 rules stipulate that players have to be in Grade 11 or below).
