LIVE: Rewatch the floodlit Cornwall Hill vs Midstream rain SA20 Derby Series match

The lights shone bright and the Cornwall Hill College and Midstream College were in full voice at Van der Byl Oval as hosts Cornwall Hill produced a clinical rain SA20 Derby Series performance.

Earlier in the evening, the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first. After a circumspect start as they ascertained conditions, the CHC top order found their feet with opener Keagan van Wyk leading the charge. Having lost his opening partner, Rourke de Lange for 9 off 13 balls, Van Wyk and Tyler Neil put on a 158-run partnership with the former finishing on an unbeaten 91 while Neil contributed 57 not out.

Midstream's chase of the target of 179 was on the back foot from the off. Carsten Heyman bowler Ryan Strauss off the third ball, and one ball after powerplay ended the visitors found themselves on 29/3. The middle order of Hanro de Villiers (17 off 16), Keegan Gibson (17 off 16) and Midstream captain Rikus Cilliers (19 off 25) attempted a recovery but their departures opened the floodgates with Cornwall Hill leg-spinner Rourke de Lange (3/16) being their destroyer-in-chief. Ultimately, Midstream were bowled out for 86 in the final over of the match, handing the Cornwall Hill the bragging rights for this inaugural edition of the rain SA20 Derby Series.
